One of the things (among many)that sets a professional apart from an amateur is the ability to show "color" during performance. While it is a feat to learn all the notes and rhythms on the concerto or sonata you're studying, it takes a more focused ability to demonstrate your technique to achieve this color. While the pros spend years learning how to achieve these techniques, to play them correctly when that moment comes, the amateurs tend to write it off as "It only happens for 2 measures in the whole piece". Arghhhh!!!
This video of World renowned violinist Maxim Vengerov, allows you to appreciate what happens to a piece when these practiced techniques are added. Yes, it may seem like such a small thing to pick at, but after all, It's the little things in life that make the difference.
Enjoy this short video clip of my favorite violin concerto.
