Playing

Javi Betancourt began his cello studies through his middle school program in the McAllen Independent School District. His professional debut was at age 16 with the local Valley Symphony Orchestra. He had solo appearances with several orchestras in the Rio Grande Valley.

While at the University of North Texas, Javi gained experience playing in a variety of Dallas/Ft. Worth area orchestras, performing for opera, musicals, and chamber music.

He has made guest appearances performing with Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban and The Trans Siberian Orchestra, and has performed in several major venues, including Texas Stadium, the American Airlines Center, Smirnoff Center and in historic cathedrals and churches throughout the Czech Republic.

Javi's vast experience in many different genres allow him to bring a unique charm and sound to his performances.

He is currently a freelance soloist, chamber musician and private clinician.
